The Impossible Place
Artist Book/ Theoretical text
2013

This newspaper is an exploratory response to a voyage I took across the Atlantic ocean on a cargo ship, on the quest to create a story (on film) about slowness, personal utility and alienation from society.
I authored 18 articles explore ideas of value (of self and one's time), objectification, work, labor and the impossibility of preserving- holding in place- the present moment. Written in English and translated by 8 different translators into French, certain versions remain in their original form, positioning the newspaper as a practice of individuated language, highlighting the meaning and unique nature of personal experience.
Only 5 editions printed, this object acts as a facsimile of a newspaper- a more self-conscious idea of the real thing- while becoming immensely more valuable than the average newspaper which is printed by the thousands and 'lasts' for a few days.
